I've been playing Diablo 3 on PC since it launched. I think it is worth the money, but it is no Diablo 2 by any means.

I went out last night and picked it up, so far it's alright it defiantly isn't like d2 though. Still pretty decent though.

Console loot is a shitload different than the PC version. I've been watching D3 on reddit and it's switched to almost all console shit... the items people are getting from drops are completely fucking ridiculous.

hmm, i got an email that bliz was putting an end to the RMAH and i thought it was just some sort of phishing attempt and deleted it, but it appears it's really happening on the PC version in March and that a loot 2.0 system that will reward the players infinitely more will be implemented...
seems they knew they had to do something dramatic to get people to buy their xpac

Yep... Loot 2.0 is coming out for PC.. which I guess is basically what they are doing with the console version. And with it bye bye the AH forever.
Here's some examples of the kind of shit I was talking about: http://imgur.com/XKSz3cm http://imgur.com/r/diablo3/nUCxc6l http://imgur.com/r/diablo3/XsGQzlI
you actually get good drops in the console version. So they are gonna do away with the AH and merge the good loot into PC, and some stupid Xpac.

I'm not sure the new loot system can fix the game. If the magic/item find grind excitement comes back when the AH is gone it may be worth starting up again.

I got the PS3 version a few days ago and its awesome. The graphics are great and the game isnt too long. Didnt bother with the inane plot, went for the loot. No framerate issues or glitches, its addictive and Im glad to see its succesfully on a console.

I think it will probably go a long way. Loot 2.0 seems to be pretty legit in terms of finding really pimp items. Looks like Blizzard actually learned something, and the console version was sort of a beta test for loot 2.0.
80% of the complaints about D3 on PC was about the loot system and the AH "ruining the game". Which even blizzard admits. The rest seems to be more focused on "it's not exactly like D2".
I still think the game is fun, even though it's a total grindfest.
I'm interested to see what Loot2.0 and the new expansion brings.

Anyone else die frequently??
I'm on normal difficulty/Hard and level 13 but still find it's a challenge to not die as I continue progressing in new areas, obviously the enemies get stronger as you progress but find it's constantly a challenge.

I'm also interested to see what Loot2 brings, but for whatever reason, and I know I'm in the minority, I can't get over the fact that there is no HC dueling. The absolute most exciting part of D2 for me was HC dueling without an easy ability to recoup your losses. I'm talking pre-expac. Great memories.

In my opinion D3 is more heavily equipment based than D2 was, so logically you'll find moving to new areas with old equipment tough even if you are skilled. As your equipment improves, you'll be fine.

If anyone ever wants to play feel free to send me a PM. I am like level 4 maybe? I am not sure. I still haven't beat the skeleton king or whatever the hell is called. I did on PC but that was a demo. I ended up buying it for PS3 to play with my cousin but he wants me to get his level before we play together.
Anyways hit me up if you feel like playing.

This. D3 is pretty much a completely gear-based game. I was struggling at first until I realized that. As my gear improved I started melting faces.
There is some skill involved of course, but not nearly as much as depends on your gear.
Most important of your DPS is your weapon. You want a weapon with the highest DPS you can find, and then your primary stat, crit damage, life steal, and a socket (and attack speed, depending on your class/spec) are the best things you can get on a weapon generally.
For armor focus on things with the highest primary stat you can find (Int for Wizards, STR for barbs, etc) Crit chance and crit damage are vital for any class. Vitality is always good. Attack speed for certain specs. Once you start getting into higher levels you absolutely need All Resistance on your gear.
This is my wizard's armory to give you an idea - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Shroom-1810/hero/533505 Though I haven't really played seriously in a few months. But with that gear and spec I steamroll through Inferno MP5. I can do MP10 if I spec for CM wizard.

I think this is what killed the game for the old dungeon crawler purists. If you didn't mind spending some real cash at the RMAH you could be an upper tier player solely by buying a ridiculous DPS weapon with insane resist gear. Also, the game selection system and AH really changed the community dynamic that was in D2.
