This is my first post, and also my first go at doing a pf tek on my own. I've watched my old roommate do it a few times and have a good hour or two of basic video instructions on what to do, what to look out for; just the basics. Everything went well, incubation only took 8 days, and pinning began 2 days after birthing (I did not pin them in the jar before birthing, learned later I should have). I have a decent amount of fruits picked and coming out still, I noticed the typical blue bruising from picking, however this is my concern. Recently I have discovered two things, one is that I have a dark possibly purple spot on my perlite, its light enough I wouldn't consider it a patch of mold, but like I said i'm unsure. What worries me from that is below the veil on the stem of a few current fruit bodies, the veil has gone really dark if not black almost (yes it is ripped from the cap they are open, I'm trying to get one of them that's attached to catch up) and below the veil there is a black spot. It does not wrap around the entire stem, and its only about 1/4 in to 1/2 inch in length. Comments or concerns please and thank you, pictures up soon

Lol, your not understanding. The black/purplish stuff you are worried about is the shrooms "seeds" its the same stuff you used to inoculate your media. It's a sign of maturity and or "ripeness" when the veils tear, the mushrooms are then triggered to drop their spores fulfilling the natural cycle of reproduction. The veil tearing is the sign most growers look for to know when to harvest their crop.

This made me giggle... I bet he's gone from thinking a Crazy black contaminate is raging through his FC to now realizing its a sign of success.. what a relief Im sure.
Anyways, congrats on completing your first grow..
Oh!! And pick those ASAP. Maybe do a little research about making prints and then you will fully understand whats happening. Its interesting stuff if youre into it for more than just the fruits..

All my pictures are drawn from imagination. I don't even know what a mushroom is.

yes its awesome to know I don't have mold coming in. I pressure cooked everything and tried to be as clean as possible setting up so im nervous at any sign for now still. Picked them right as I got home from work, the rest are doing great still, even had two come up from the bottom. Any ideas about casing or not on the first fruit flush? I decided to wait (clearly) and i'm doing fine so far. Would casing increase its protection against contaminants or increase yield possibly?
