How is this Happening!?? PICs
    #18902228 - 09/28/13 10:36 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I've done my searching and what not but, trich is becoming a persistent little b**tch..

Cakes colonizing fully and healthily and were given over a week to consolidate.  I got this far into my first flush and.. BAM!!! This...

I absolutely can not figure out why this is happening.. It is from me touching them?? Transfering contams somehow? Maybe my MS syringe is tainted now and I need a new one? I'm getting desperate here... =(

Okay, you will want to grab a second opinion. As a rule of thumb if you are unsure just throw them away; better safe than sorry.

To m honestly I see from bruising (blueish) which is fine, and a little water logged in some areas. Then at the same time it's like too dry in other areas...

Are you putting a large weight on top of your cake when you re-dunk them?

Yeah that looks like bruising to me.

Trich will be green and fuzzy when it's sporilating.

Quit manhandling your cakes!!

OP is correct, I see trich all over those pics.

The problem is that the trich is getting in to your uncolonized substrate, germinating, and then not going green until you are fruiting.

Check your sterile procedures...it's also possible your syringe is dirty.

How is the trich getting into uncolonized substrate if I'm waiting a week after full colonization to birth them?  I feel like the trich is germinating in my rolling verm somehow..  I kind of thought about dunking a few cakes and NOT rolling them to see what happens but I'm afraid that may be even worse.

It's either due to a contaminated syringe or poor sterile technique.

Is this happening to all of your cakes?

Pre-first flush contams mean that it got contaminated sometime between inoculation and fruiting.

I do think its starting to happen to all of them unfortunately. Which makes me think it must be the syringe. =(

I just printed some Golden Teachers and will be making new MS syringes soon.  This time Ill be using a SAB.  I also would love to try agar.  But currently I dont have petri dishes or any agar for that matter.

So I guess its back to square one.  New syringe, re'sterylize SGFC and get back at it..  buuummmer.

:thataintright:
Have you eaten mushrooms from a trich contaminated cake before SF?
I'd worry about giving them to a friend and having them get ill, though. Paranoid.

 Too paranoid. Yes I have, my brother and I enjoyed a nice two ounce trich infested monotub our first grow. Trich doesn't harm mushrooms, only the mycelial network
