Could genetic testing determine if they are one in the same? Maybe the ones that grows in the grass are a lot taller then the ones that grow out in the open. It would be interesting to find out.

Yea, that would be helpful, also the spore size is different, that would be a good thing to check.  I still want to know if there is an easier way to tell the two species apart?  Also, I'm curious if studying numerous collections in depth could reveal even more species?

And Byrain would you be more happy with C tenera group?

I would just call them Conocybe.  There are a lot of Conocybe with roughly that appearance and getting them to even section is pretty futile without looking at the caulocystidia.  Also, without checking the cheilocystidia there are a few Pholiotina species that look kind of like that.  Even with microscopy, getting them to species can be very difficult  And don't forget that few of these species have been studied in depth in North America, I don't think they have checkered DNA yet for a lot of them in Europe even.

Well that works for me. Conocybe sp. It is.

Picture 1 tenera right cyanopus left. Picture 2 tenera left cyanopus right.  Picture 3 apala
Picture 4Is hard to tell from.  I seeing at least one bluing base on one of the upturned ones, but I see some white caps that look like apalas

What 4-5 are showing is a tight cluster of both cyanopus and said Conocybe sp. all growing together!! It was pretty crazy.
