Lets say that i am bringing in 6-10k worth of drug money per month in the hypothetical situation.
They question is where/what is the smartest thing to do with this cash. To what degree can banks be involved? Can i use it to buy/ invest in legitimate things?

u can deposit more then 3k without reporting it.
best thing to do is Bury it.... dont tell anyone where u keep it... slowly pay for everything in cash. slowly adding cash to ur account that u dont spend.

I really dont have the time for that... what are the pros and cons to putting it into the bank in small increments over time and then buying gold or other investments, slowly converting it into clean money?

As a former drug dealer. DO NOT put cash into the bank. If you are busted, your assets can be frozen.
I used to bury my money.

If youre bringing in that much dough, get a fucking stash spot.
And don't put that shit in the bank.
Even if you put it in the bank slowly, there is still a trail of money adding up that you cant account for.
If you want to buy gold, why dont you just buy gold? Just take cash into a coin shop who carries bullion. buy an ounce at a time, and hit a couple different stores at a time.

That was my first thought was to bury it lol. Buying gold would lighten the load so to speak but i wouldn't want alot of valuables in the house.

If you have a legit job, you can just pay for all bills in cash and deposit/spend your legitimate money. Dumping tons of cash into the bank is definitely a great way to raise red flags, though.

Okay so the bank is out because of paper trails, red flags being raised, and possibly losing all of it in a frozen asset situation if caught. So i've bought a nice medium sized safe for the gold/ cash. IF the safe gets to full, ill either buy another/ bigger one (less easy to be stolen) or find a nice burial site for a huge bag o bucks.

No it doesnt. And anyone making 6-10k a month would know better than to talk about it.
But I'd chance say its coke.

1.Use money orders to pay all of your bills.
2. Sales of over $600 for gold or silver are reportable, you could buy silver at $ 20 oz, and sell it when you need a little (under $600).
3. Report some of it as income under a (Example-cleaning business), deduct expenses and it's now basically tax free legit money in a bank.
4. Just hold the cash, one day you will need it anyway.

You work as a independent contractor type of business, a personal fitness trainer (you train people at their own home), maybe a computer repair business at home, or mix of both.
Maybe you wash windows and do power-washing, anything with a low capital expense for equipment in case they checked. All of your customers pay in cash type of business, because you will have no checks to deposit.
Again, you won't get greedy with this, just a samll percentage of your overall cash flow, maybe $2000-4000 per month, nothing crazy.
