ID Request: SW England
    #18898244 - 09/27/13 11:24 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I picked about 200 mushrooms today near my house in Dorset, SW England.  The field is used an overflow carpark and is mostly grassy with clovers in it.

Area:

Basically, i have split them into two groups: Ones with rings and ones without rings. Within these two groups they do differ in shape slightly, which i have photographed.

Rings:

No Rings:

This should be numbered 3.

Can anyone tell me what they are and if any are hallucinogenic? If there is any uncertainty, i can do spore prints.

Thanks in advance and sorry if photos are too large!

I think they are Panaeolus and yes, you should already be doing spore prints.

First pic looks like a mycena or a marasmius species; the former is more likely. The rest of them are indeed panaeolus species; mostly pan. foenisecii.

Image of spore print:

To me, it's a dark brown colour. The rest were the same as this.

When you (both) say first pic, do you mean the one with the grass?

Yeah. Also very good ID request. I've never seen one detailed in this way.

So, are these worth keeping? Ideally i was looking for something to trip on.

I have looked up panaeolus foenisecii on wikipedia and it says:

"In many field guides it is listed as psychoactive due to psilocybin content, however the mushroom does not produce any psychoactive alkaloids."

So is it worth a go, or will i die?

They are inactive but you will not get hurt from eating em

Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute or an hour or a day or even a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever.

Yea, that is a Panaeolina print, you should print all of them though, sometimes Panaeolina can grow side by side with Panaeolus.

Inactive :frown: oh well, i'll probably just bin them off.

Is it worth going back to look in the same place for liberty caps? Is there a chance they could grow in the same area?
