Have you tried them on both MEA and PDA?

Yes I use both and when I mix the manure water in I use one or the other in addition to the manure water.

I took different sections & transferred them to the new dishes and then they start becoming a more pure looking stain of either or the other.

On some I took the very outer edges where the grow started to become more rhizomorphic then transferred it to the new plate.

Don't let your plates grow so far out. You can pick up contams from the edge.

I've been pretty lucky about not getting too many contaminates even in the fully grown dishes but I do try and get them before they reach the edge though I don't always succeed.  That's one of the reason I have such diverse plates.

In Paul Stamets book "The Mushroom Cultivator" in the glossary on page 395 he has the word rhizomorphs listed then it say's "Cord-like or strand like hyphae"  which I'm pretty sure is a noun, what they do is grow that is the adjective.

:facepalm3:

Grow is a verb... a doing word.  Adjectives describe.

This mycelium is rhizomorphic. <--- adjective

These are very cord-like or strand like rhizomorphs.  <---- noun

In other words, when he said:

Quote:

I cut out sections of both rhizo and cottony sectors and transferred them to new dishes.

As long as he meant rhizomorphic when he said 'rhizo' he isn't incorrect.

And this is very incorrect:

Quote:

There is no such thing as a "rhizo."

It's just rhizomorphic growth.

I may be a mushroom noob but this shit is grammar.

"I grow mushrooms." "grow" is the adjective and mushroom is the noun and "I" is a pronoun.

"My grow is awesome." "My" and "grow" are nouns.

:facepalm3: grow is the verb in that first sentence!!! Doing word!!! Grade school english!!!

I grow mushrooms, they are big.

BIG is the adjective, GROW is the verb!!!

And in that second one, "My" is a pronoun and yes in that context of course grow is a noun. I never disputed that.

I can't figure out what half of your pictures are trying to demonstrate, but I can here and it's pretty damn cool!

I just started agar last week and inoculated my first few plates a couple days ago. I have a couple varieties of pans(MS), and a cube print. I'm using MEA, so if the pans don't seem to take a good hold then I'll add a manure tea since I've seen some results here.

Keep it up.

When I let the agar of pan go to the edge of the dish they started becoming more rhizomorphic and when I transferred those sections to new dishes they grew out rhizomorphic.  I don't know if one section will grow any better than the other but I had read that pan doesn't have this type of growth.
