Panaeolus bisporus San Diego & my manure agar plates

I had an old print of pan bisporus San Diego that I put on agar a couple of weeks ago that look like they're ready to transfer do I just cut a wedge anywhere because it looks a lot different than cubes.
I also noticed that my pan cyan was not colonizing the agar as fast as the cubes so I made a manure tea and used it in place of water and kept the rest of the recipe the same it's about 4 days old and is showing excellent growth.

I wanted to update on the progress of my pan bisporus, I took pieces and dropped a few chunks into a jar of grain and almost over night it started to colonize the jar which made me think it was contaminated. Within a few days it was completely colonized a beautiful color of light lavender. I noticed that the substrate & the jars that I forgot to spawn immediately changed colors with a dark bottom and then the top turning white. I'm casing some of the trays today.

I've never seen anyone use manure water in their agar but that sounds like a great idea
It is pretty difficult working with copelandias sometimes especially if you're used to cubes. The mycelium is way different and I have a hard time determining contam from healthy mycelium.
I'm pretty sure you won't find any sectoring and I've also heard that Pan MS grows don't vary nearly as much as cubes. I'm not positive on that though cuz all my copelandia grows so far have gone sour Maybe someone who's good with exotics (Stonesun perhaps?) can chime in...

Yes they're rhizomorph's, I cut out sections of both rhizo and cottony sectors and transferred them to new dishes. This cube is growing on a manure agar plate. I also made manure cakes with filter's instead of vermiculite on top and left enough room at the top to shake them which I did almost daily.

Agar plates are like snowflakes no two are alike.

There are more than one picture of some of the plates.

Is the growth speed on agar really an issue? I've never been too concerned about how quickly a culture colonizes. In fact I sometimes have trouble using them before they fully colonize so I think I'd actually prefer the slower rate.

Do you grow cyans? This is all experimental to see what's going to work best for me and there is always going to be someone who may want their plates to grow more slowly or quickly for whatever reason. Since cyan's are known for being fragile I thought they may do better if they were given their preferred food source for the very beginning. They not only colonized the plates more quickly but the culture was much healthier and when added to a grain jar the manure cultures took off and can take several shakings with no problems recovering. I'll post some pics of the different grain jars and the different agars I used this afternoon.
The cube was just an experiment to see how it would do which it also did better the mushroom that grew on the manure agar was much larger and healthier than the other cubes I grew on agar, I'll post pics of the those also later today. It is too much trouble to make manure plates for cubes because they do seem to grow just fine on regular plates than the cyan which is what I love best. Besides it's fun to experiment in all aspects of your hobbies I encourage it .

I like the manure dishes. Definitely stronger growth for pans. I'm going to try it next time too.
Thanks for the info.

Both jars were inoculated at the same time one has manure agar the other is either malt or potato, the manure jars finished over a week ahead of the others.

There is no such thing as a "rhizo."
It's just rhizomorphic growth.

No, it's not an abbreviation, it's just something passed around by people who don't know what they're talking about.
You could say that you got rhizo growth. But you'll never have a rhizo. Rhizo is an adjective, not a noun.

In Paul Stamets book "The Mushroom Cultivator" in the glossary on page 395 he has the word rhizomorphs listed then it say's "Cord-like or strand like hyphae" which I'm pretty sure is a noun, what they do is grow that is the adjective.

Two to 3 weeks less when the weather was warm but now that it's cold it's slowed everything down quite a bit.

Thanks I can't believe I haven't done it before now, all the cubes are from one print I made myself almost 2 years ago and I bought the bisporus about the same time both were kept sealed in my make up drawer and I've had very little contamination on my plates but even the contamination can be interesting I see eyes looking back through this one.
