Slow Germination with PF Tek

I feel like I'm experiencing an unusually slow germination of my substrates. I was hoping for a little guidance as this is my first grow.
- I inoculated 13 days ago - The jars have been sitting in a plastic bin under my bed - The temperature has been between 68-73 degrees - There has been literally zero sunlight exposure - I received the spores in the mail roughly one week before actually beginning the grow process (not sure if this time frame makes a difference)
Thanks in advanced.

Spore syringes last for a while. One week is nothing.
RR recommends colonizing in ambient room lighting, not in total darkness. In addition, do you have a lid on the plastic bin? If so, take it off. They need a little air exchange.
Perhaps your substrate is too tightly packed in the jars. The mycelium takes longer to grow out if this is the case.

Every time I experienced slow germination times it seemed it was from being too compacted or wet, the jars that I packed on the drier side and looser definitely colonized way quicker I started just making a bunch of batches of 4 or 6 jars at a time to get it right Now im just thinking fuck that, I'll go with wbs or popcorn next time lmao

Okay- So it looks like I've done quite a bit wrong. Yes, there was a cap on the bin. I've taken the jars out and set them up on a shelf that will be exposed to some lighting from my room. Also, I know I did pack them relatively tight - will this completely inhibit growth or can I just expect a lengthier germination time?

Depending on how tight you have packed them it may completely inhibit growth... wait a week or so and post back with the progress.

when I fill jars full I try to take a handful of the cake mix and loosely crumble it so it falls into the jar. No packing at all. Try it this way on your next jars and like the above said wait another week with these jars.

Any update on this? Experiencing the same issue here. Exactly 14 days ago I started the PF tek and only one jar is showing signs of life. All other jars don't show anything. Loosely packed. Will take lid off tote now.. but any ideas guys?
I bought from a vendor here.

Yes, an update would be nice. I'm kind of in the same boat.

Max - what exactly are you experiencing? I am going on 16 days~ and still only one jar out of 10 is colonized in only spot. Granted its reached the bottom of the glass and is starting to take over the bottom.. Its still only one.

I will admit that I forgot to shake the syringe a couple times between jars while innoculating.. and possibly forgot to shake on the first jar..
You think its possible to shoot all the spores from a syringe into one jar by accident? Or at least the majority of viable spores from a syringe?

If you shook it once it should be good.
Sometimes I wonder if only 1.5cc is good enough for a jar but your jars don't look that big
I was wondering about air exchange as well
is there any way you could give them a little heat without drying them out though?

I thought it had been longer but I guess I inoculated a little over one week ago. I am seeing some myc but mostly nothing. Some jars have an ugly greyish wet looking substance. Hoping it isn't contam.
