Scary stuff. I guess most of them do not even know who Feuerbach is.
"God did not, as the Bible says, make man in His image; on the contrary man, as I have shown in The Essence of Christianity, made God in his image".
"Christianity set itself the goal of fulfilling man’s unattainable desires, but for that very reason ignored his attainable desires. By promising man eternal life, it deprived him of temporal life, by teaching him to trust in God’s help it took away his trust in his own powers; by giving him faith in a better life in heaven, it destroyed his faith in a better life on earth and his striving to attain such a life. Christianity gave man what his imagination desires, but for that very reason failed to give him what he really and truly desires".

I fully agree. This is why I think religion came about, at least in a great part, to deal with human death/impermanence anxiey.

I would even be ready to understand people who reach for a Xanax-God but not people who firmly believe in a misogynist, vindictive human being with supernatural powers who supposedly created the world in seven days.
I mean, come on. 50% of Americans truly believe this nonsense? That's scary.

It is scary. Luckily beurocracy is more powerful than religion, and humans are weaker than their eyeteeth. The point of which is that people are unable to fully enact their desires - for good or evil, and so they also will not find eternal heaven or hell, nor God or Devil.
Before people aspire to superlatives we need to learn to first be human.

This is just flat out wrong, regardless of how man has made God, it remains true that God made man in his image as we have the ability to create things like God.
Secondly, Chrstianity does not deprive man of temporal life, on the contrary it allows on to life a joy filled life through the knowledge of the truth that joy comes from the heart of man (through the Lord) and not from external accomplishments or powers, which go array as often as they succeed. How miserable is the man who puts his hope in the world to give him peace and happiness.
And the last part is just dribble. Having hope for a better life in heaven, does not destroy your striving for a better life on earth. On the contrary! You can align yourself with the energies of heaven right now and begin to build a better life on earth right now. To say that no Christian has ever performed charitable works on earth or strove to improve the conditions on earth is just beyond absurd.

Are you drunk? Or do you seriously believe that God created man in his image?
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Genesis 2:7)
Christianity had been depriving man of his bodily existence for centuries. Contrary to the Greek-Roman tradition, Christianity made Man shameful of his own sexuality (the biblical idea of covering our nakedness with the fig leaf, nothing rings a bell?).

our way to devote our free time when we're not focused on survival into to making each other miserable recreational stress.
-------------------- Everything is better than it was the last time. I'm good. If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.
