possible contam?? (pics)

Hey guys, working on my first grow - 10 jars, most about 90-95% colonized. No contams in any so far. Today I just noticed two small orangish-yellowish spots in one of my jars:

And a close-up:

The jar smells fine. Is this a contam? If not, any idea of what it could be? Thanks.

Hard to say from the pics, probably just metabolites. Keep an eye on it and if it triples in size in the next day or starts to smell bad, then it might be screwed. But I wouldn't worry yet.

Why does everyone say oh it's just metabolites no big deal when metabolites is actually a sign that the myc is trying to defend itself against something. Usually that something is bacteria

Metabolites also are used to break down the food sources for the mycellium and are not 100% indicative of contamination. I have found that some "strains" will produce more than others as well. Yes metabolites can mean contams. They can also mean the mycellium is digesting its meal I have some galindoi jars going right now that are a few months old and are loaded with metabolites, some are being secreted from the stones themselves. Jars are 100% colonized and look and smell great.

Just checked on my jars (which are around 70% colonized) and I had similar spots on 1 or 2 jars. Hasn't grown since last time I checked.

Yes but we're not talking about galindoi jars sitting for months growing stones. We're talking about cube myc in a brf cake that is probably less than 2 weeks old.

I know but all mycellium gotta eat, and metabolites is how they do that. Also his jar may not be really old but it is almost 100% colonized, and the spot where the metabolites are showing is colonized. I don't think that cake is contamed what else can I say? Also as a side note, I have had jars with obvious bacterial contam, where there were no visible metabolites at all.
OP if you read through the links I provided you will find that metabolites are the mycelliums way to break down nutes, a response to stress, and a response to contam. Check to make sure your temps are not too high and let them colonize. Your cake looks alright IMO.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. My room temp is around 80 degrees. The mycelium has spread more since I posted the pics, and those slightly colored spots haven't changed. I'll keep an eye on it.
