Short walk in the woods

Central Florida. I swear I'll get a decent camera as soon as I'm not broke. Habitat: Mixed forest, growing straight from the ground
Gills: No gills or pores, underside of cap is smooth
Stem: About 3" tall, .5" wide, ridged
Cap: 1-1.5" wide, "wrinkled"

There were tons of these out there. The one in the photo, as you can clearly see, is growing straight from a walnut. Most were growing from small sticks. Cap: .5-1.5 cm, white, smooth Stem: 1.5-22 cm long, 1-2 mm wide, younger specimens have very evident blue on stipe (although it looks more gray in the photos)

I know they're not active, just curious to know what they may be..?

That's a pretty strange first mushroom. Don't know what it is. The second one on the nut is a Mycena species, but it is not the Walnut Mycena (Mycena luteopallens).

Thanks Hashfinger, I thought it was likely Mycena, the bluing threw me off though. Plus the fact they were grwing from pretty much anything. That's the second time I've found a mushroom with no gills or pores. The other was HUGE and growing from different substrate so I'm fairly certain its a different sp. Here's a couple pics of those: [url=https://files.shroomery.org/files/13-29/411806149-IMG_4316.jpg] [/url

Thank you Fungi01. How do they sporulate without gills or pores?

The little guy is probably a white mycena

They have tiny tiny poores that you cant see with the naked eye and they blow there spores out. if you touch one they sort of go poof. Sometimes you can even see a little cloud.

After a little research, I'm thinking H. crispa. That's pretty cool Eddeee, but there was definitely no "poof" when I handled this mushroom.

Ill agree with that.
A pal of mine dries helvella out and then grinds it to use as a spice.
I can't taste the things.

That family of fungi technically have asci kind of like lids which open when the spores are forcibly expelled The much room has to be agitated by tapping or breathing on them in which the spores are forcibly ejected. if there a bit old they sometimes do not cooperate.

I didn't collect any samples, didn't even occur to me that they might be edible. I think I'll probably going back out there tomorrow when I have more time, I may collect a few then.
Wow, I should've read more. H. lactea it is! Thanks for that.
That makes sense Eddeee, I handled it fairly gently. And I guess its possible that it was too old.
