What have we here??
    #18895299 - 09/26/13 06:28 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

These are my phoenix oysters... Sawdust supplemented with lime and a inoculated with myc from a mushroom I cloned.

What are these?? What should I do? Should I cut open the bag? Not yet?

Thanks in advance...

I was not sure whether to post this here or in mushroom cultivation so feel free to move it.

Naw... If they were maggots they would be a lot more spread out no? Also they are too small... I think they are pins... but then again I am bias...

That's funny,  I saw maggots too,  but I think it's because the OP called them "little guys".

Pins.  They need lots of fresh air and humidity.  I like to roll the bag down and cut out a little hatch over the pins.  Helps to preserve substrate moisture.

Congrats

Hmm... you wouldn't have a pic? I was thinking of cutting the bag in an X and taping the flaps up and spraying in that one area.... Or should I just take the entire substrate out of the bag and do it kind of like PF tek...?

You don't have to tape the flaps up. The flaps will help create a micro
climate of high humidity and help to induce fruiting.

Sounds good! :nodofunderstanding: It is a little late today, but after work tomorrow I will do that. Tell me, what happens now with contams? Need I worry? Should I put this up in a tub? It seems some of the pins got crushed, expecially the ones on the bottom from the weight of the bag... What will happen to those? How big do I cut? These pics do not really give a good impression of scale, so I will grab some more, and see what happens...

Wish me luck!

Cheers!

If you spray them often you wont need a tub or anything.

Just spray that cut part of the bag on the reg.
