Hi all, first post here please forgive any unintentional forum fuax pas i'm still getting through the intro thread. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the ID of this cactus on my property my hope is that is trichocereus pachanoi but it may be a long shot. ID'ing seems like a difficult thing for a non experienced cactus identifier. So hopefully some of you more experienced cacti identifiers can be of some assistance.

Thanks!

It is indeed a Trichocereus pachanoi. Don't harvest if you don't have the owners permission just buy/grow your own.

He said it was on his property.
Looks like all pachanois I have come across. Nice wild specimen, I'm reaming with jealous rage.

Yeah that would be pretty sweet to find on your own property. Looks like it's getting ready to flower bigtime.

Nice find. I wish I had a specimen like that on my land. Guess I'll have to waita few more decades.

If you look closely, there's little damaged bits around the weird parts up top. That one on the far right is looking funky, but i think it'll go back to normal once it grows out some more. Only time will tell.

I would say the funky bits are from damage. You can see the tips have been damaged a number of times causing it to pup from the tip. Snails do like to chomp on the new grown of the tip. By the look of the landscape I would say a Aussie probably inland SA or WA But I have been known to be wrong
Cheers Got

Dammit, why I am in the middle of snow over half of the year?
snow, snow, snow, light bulbs, heaters, snow, snow, deadly freezing temperatures and no sun at all at mid winter. Yarrr!
Only very nice thing there is almost every time of the day you can see clear start sky and aurora borealis on the sky, they are like dragons flaming and moving on the sky like snakes!
Also afternoon star sky is something spectacular but lack of light will depressing people.. I have find cure to build artificial sun with greenhouse lights so it's not so bad.
I have to keep chili and cucumber plants alive in small pots to next May by cloning them. Also paprika need to start gerinated at mid-winter. Greenhouse season is fking too short without heater.. Even with heater 4 months are safe time to grow cactus outdoors, even summer it's common that night temps are below +10C easily and sun shines from north at mid-night but it ain't warm much cause it shines from horizon.
Would be very fun to move somewhere warm but I see no reason to relocate cause of climate cause I have things going good there.. And cacti garden gives challenges what people commonly doesn't even think.. Artificial lights, dark winter and cold climate.. If wind blows from arctic sea/north pole there, no matter is it summer or not, day temps can easily be at +5-8C in worst case.
..but this nature and hardly no humans around me, loving this.. arctic region is actually a freezing desert without no humans everywhere pollinating and destroying nature.. Native trees are also very tiny cause of slow growth season, native plants spent 3/4 of the year at dormancy and grow 3 months. Estimated max height of pine tree is below 10 meters easily. Tough plants and some of the biggest one are indeed old and hard grown ones.

Wow, that is spectacular news! I recently purchased A 3 foot colum of San Pedro from a local cactus shop and have it rooting in a pot now. To confirm that I also have this spectacular San Pedro already growing on my property is very exciting. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I look forward to being a part of this community. I will post some pictures of my new Pedro soon.
