Safe to call these jars duds?
    #18894157 - 09/26/13 01:59 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hey all,

I have some jars of WBS that were prepared and MS inoculated with B+ three weeks ago today. These jars are still not showing any signs of mycelium growth whatsoever, but also no signs of bacteria/contamination either. On the other hand, I have some other jars of WBS that were prepared the same exact way as the first, but MS inoculated with Ecuador only about a week ago. These jars are all showing signs of healthy mycelium growth already.

All of these spores syringes were purchased from the same, reputable vendor. What do you guys think is wrong with the first set of jars? Is it possible that the spores were just duds? Should I just get rid of the older jars? Any information pertaining to these questions would be greatly appreciated! I know that my explanation is quite vague and that I did not include any pictures but I am just asking for general advice.

Thanks!
Sgt

Could be bad spores, or they may just not have germinated yet. If they're really old it could take a long time.

I'd probably wait another week or so, and if they don't start doing something just toss them and start over.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
