Yup^^^ I dont even silicone or tape the felt
When i make lids i do two holes one for silicone inoculation port and the other to be stuffed with ezfelt. I simply cut a triangle like section and put one corner through until its wedged. Works like a charm and was cheap fast and easy.
Accidentally made one hole too big for the triangle technique so i tried rolling one up like a wrap and pulling through, feels snug enough and i imagine it will work but well see.

Some of my filter disks are disgustingly stained, including rust stains, but still work perfectly. Simply wipe rusty lids and rings with a green scouring pad and keep using.
That's very difficult to do on a lid where the SFD is glued down and it has a silicone injection port. So yeah, I'm sure it works, but it's one more reason not to cut up your SFD. Either way, by gluing my SFDs down, I've made it so I have to replace the entire lid. I won't be doing that again.
As for reusing the filters that have been glued down, I wouldn't trust it. I've pulled a few off, and there's really not that much space for GE once the silicone spreads itself. Gluing it back down again would likely close some of them up completely.
Again, more reason to just use the whole filter.

They're only cheap if you grow small scale. 100+ of them will quickly add up.
