Boletus ID- Edible or not?
    #18893548 - 09/26/13 11:11 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hi there - this is my first ID request so please go easy on me.
I'm just keen to know if these are edible. From what i can tell, most Boletus mushrooms seem to be safe but I thought it's best to check here given that there are so many knowledgeable and helpful folks.

Habitat: Growing in grass near some trees (probably somewhere near the tree roots) both deciduous and some pines

Gills: Pores - creamy brown

Stem: creamy brown with black specks

Cap: Brown  3 inches

Bruising: No color change

Location: Lancashire UK

Thanks

Leccinum species. Edible but not very special.

Yes.

I confess that I know next to fuck all about European boletes, so I can't take a stab at a definitive species for you.
