First Time - Questions on Incubation/Fruiting

I seem to have inoculated my substrate properly. It's day eight. All of the jars are showing splotches of white mycelium here and there. One of the jars seems to be colonized maybe 30%+. I had them in a plastic bucket, a lid on top, with a blanket covering it. Things got so humid in there that the thermometer rusted and broke, unfortunately. In response to that I took the lid off completely and just left a blanket covering the shrooms.
-From what I'm reading it's okay to have them by a window getting indirect sunlight?
-Yesterday, around day seven, I unscrewed the lids of the jars so that they are on there only very, very loosely. There's some tinfoil covering the holes of the jar but the tinfoil, too, is on there very loosely as well.
Would it be okay for me to put them by a source of indirect sunlight with the blanket off, the lids on very loosely, and with only tinfoil covering the lids? How sensitive at this point are the jars to contamination? I've read about people just keeping the jars on their kitchen counter or on top of the fridge. From what I understand the dry vermiculite layer is supposed to keep contams out, but how effect is this really?
What kind of precautions should I use when handling/peeking at the jars? Last time I peaked I did so with just underwear on, my last shower had been 10 hours prior, and the only precaution I took was to spray my hands down with Lysol. I didn't wear gloves.
I saw pictures of dunking and rolling where people are handling the cakes with their bare hands, using tap water, leaving the cakes out in the open or in the fridge and what not. This makes me very confused.
I'm also pretty confused about aseptic technique during birthing. My room is reasonably clean, but should I wipe the whole room down with Lysol wipes before I start? I know I should probably wear gloves I've sanitized with alcohol. What other precautions should I take though? Should I wipe down the jars with Lysol wipes before I start? Is it okay to take the jars out of the tub and place them on the floor so I can have them easily accessible when I'm birthing the cakes?
Sorry if this is a lot of (stupid) questions. I tried searching the forum for quite a while for answers but I had a hard time finding them.

DO NOT UNSEAL YOUR JARS!!!
There is enough air, water and humidity in the jars as it is, leave them sealed and DO NOT open them until they are 100% colonized and ready to fruit.
It really doesn't matter where you put them while they colonize, as long as you aren't putting them in your microwave or freezer. Some people put them in incubators running around 80 degrees, while others simply clean off a bookshelf and let them do their magic at room temp.
I don't know where you got the idea to unseal the jars, but that is a serious no-no. There is no maintenance needed during the colonization phase, you literally just put them somewhere safe and watch them grow.
Once you birth the cakes to a FC, there is no real need for sterility as the fungus has fully colonized the substrate and will eat pretty much anything else that lands on it. When I make casings I actually break the cakes up with my bare (washed) hands so that I can make sure everything "feels" right. Using gloves doused with alcohol could actually harm the mycelium itself.
It's at the very beginning (inoculation, colonization) that you have to focus on total sanitation so as to keep competitive bacteria out and away from the nutritious substrate that you want the fungus to develop on.

I had read on some of the threads in this forum that you need to allow your jars to perform gas exchange. The midwestgrowkits guide suggested opening up the jars every so often to let air in and out. This is actually a bad idea and will get me contams?

Hopefully they continue to colonize and don't get contaminated on ya. Keep your eyes peeled for an. Suspicious activity. Have any pics?

The holes you poked in the lids to inoculate provide ample gas exchange paths. No need to worry
