Weed created my anxiety problems in my opinion. My unsophisticated explanation is that it messed my head up after years of abuse. I think it unbalanced the chemicals in your brain, and interrupts the normal order of things, which sets the stage for a host of different problems to present themselves.
Also generally i think because it is something that settles and relaxes you, then by the same token, once your body grows accustomed to it, you won't be settled or relaxed without it, thus anxiety, irritability and mood swings.

The anxiety was probably dormant within you and marijuana just brought it to surface so that you would deal with the cause. Don't get me wrong it can probably cause feelings of anxiety within people who have their life on track, but I think that's caused by the THC putting your thoughts into overload. I get anxiety from weed sometimes, but I also have it when sober.. I try to look for the root of the problem and try to solve it... Spiritual To Do lists shall we say.

Anxiety is known, well-characterized, physiological response to marijuana. It's an effect of the drug, and appears to have a physiological basis.

Yeah I guess it is recognised, certainly every time I've had a high dose edible experience the onset has had some level of anxiety. Even so I think it can be used as a good problem solver, as someone said earlier, a chance to notice thoughts that wouldn't ordinarily pass your mind in the alert problem solving state of consciousness.

but some people take it and seriously feel zero anxiety...they just completely chill out. imo the most interesting thing about marijuana is how it effects people so differently.

You act as if anxiety is some sort of infection or disease.

I get social anxiety when smoking weed. For instance, I cansmoke by myself or I can smoke and go out into public, I can smoke with friends going on a hike, I can smoke on a car ride to the park.
I CAN'T smoke with friends on a couch or I get crippling anxiety that makes me feel really awkward and want to leave. It's not always present but it is more often than not.
It's actually the reason I quit smoking weed. I'll smoke it again one day but it will be by myself or while I'm actively doing something, never will I smoke with people around a house in a calm setting. I know that sounds weird but yeah, that's just how it is for me.
Oh, stativas actually seem to give me less anxiety as well. Not to mention that I hate the feeling of a raised heart rate and lowered blood pressure, it's enjoyable if laying down but standing up or trying to sit still, well it feels really weird and I don't like it. I don't kow about the blood sugar bit, probably has something to do with it as well. I never used to get anxiety before cannabis but now I do but only on rare occasions when I'm standing still around people. Standing around talking feels weird to me.

I was just speaking from personal perspective, I'm aware that it's natural for people to experience it of course but some people suffer from it to such a degree that it can almost seems like a disease.
I get that sometimes too GreyMorph, these days I mainly only use it before solitary activities.
