Where did you find them? And do they ooze any liquid when cut? Was there a tree nearby or was it just out in the grass? How do the stems feel? Are they hollowish or solid?

No liquid oozes when cut. I found them next to a small tree in lawn cut grass on a hillside. The mushrooms are quite heavy probably 1 pound each. They grew in clusters of 6-8 or more.

I was thinking Tricholoma. They sound pretty big. But Lyophyllum seems more plausible if there was only one small tree around.

There is a small forest in the general location, Approximately 100ft off the road. These were growing next to a string of single trees decorating the side of the road. Suburban planned trees if that helps. One tree every 50ft or so and right next to each tree was a pile of these guys.

Macrocybe titans characterizes the stem part quite well. Just not so sure of the cap portion.
