Climacodon septentrionale, Shelving Tooth
    #1889067 - 09/06/03 07:56 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I've been passing these beauties on my way to work for the past few weeks now!
I finally stopped to take some shots and a sample.
This is the first time I have seen a tooth fungus up close.
The identification was very easy, there arent many tooth fungi in my area.
It smells really bad and it's slimey.. eeewwww  :tongue2:
Im taking a print just for the hell of it.  :print:

Without further adue, here are the images.

Here they are from the road.

Just beyond the fence.

Now we go into the yard for the macros.

This is the top, a difficult shot. :smirk:

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
Happy hunting!

Nice pictures. they are a putrid smelling species. the first time i found a bracket tooth i was looking for oysters and thought it odd to see wat i thought was a cluster of them on maple trees. i got up close and realized that i had found something more interesting, though not particularly pleasant.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
