major fruits in vitro!

This is a pint BRF JAR just reached full colonization today. I'm gonna birth it in a little bit. With those fruits that big I'm hesitant to let it consolidate at all.

Birth it, trim them off, dunk and roll.

No need to trim. Pins can survive a bath. I'd be worried about a possible contam. Usually if they pin before full colonization it's due to contam issues.

I have been drinking, but what are the black dots in the bottom of the jar? Brf and verm in a pint jar?

I should waited for responses before I birthed it. I birthed, trimmed, rinsed it off and then rolled it in verm. Now it's in the sgfc. There were 37g fresh. Those black dots were just some coco coir that didn't get covered with myc. The jar was brf, verm, and coir.

Don't use coir next time. BRF and verm do fine on their own. Coir won't help.
Also, when you see pins you should birth immediately. Your mushrooms know what they want better than this board does. Listen to them.

I usually use only brf and verm but I wanted to experiment. Also I usually use 1/2 pints but wanted to experiment with pint jars. Thanks for the tips guys, I've still got a whole lot to learn but don't we all.

If it pinned at 50%, you have a contam.

How could it reach 100% colonization with a contam?

It might have pin before 100% because in a pint jar the substrate can get packed down and the myc has a hard time colonizing but not an impossible time. I have always had good luck with full pints and even tall half pints but some people say they're the worst. I wonder if they had ever tried them though.

I have a couple of BRF Pints, I always end up with Invitro. It Is the nature of the jar. If MS to Full Pint= invitro.
If LC to Full Pint= No invitro....
BTW I love the tall half pints, or as they say 8 oz. They have more surface area to pin from imo.
