psh. that last one is a setup!

you know that's my collection of things i "found in the woods" n junk...

That gopher skull came from an owl pellet lodge on Big Tree, the secret giant redwood.

i guess the implied thought of the thread was to show them in their natural setting. but i also didnt exactly implicitly say that either so...

yeah that secret giant was smexy! so was the owl that lived in it. also im fairly sure i either brought the skull back from the tree or stacked them on top of one another...

although i recall stacking two skulls, not a vertebrae so maybe you rearranged things later on.

one of the cooler things ive seen in the woods was in the sierra nevada during 6th grade sleep away camp. we were hiking all day and he took us on this steep cliffy sort of trail. on one side was a bit of a drop and then sloping dense woods. on the other was a muddy wall with a pretty high bank.  but inlayed in that wall was thousands of shells. the whole wall face was just different types of snails and junk. it was soooo cool. then we got an ice age lesson and deduced that the ocean/sea had come that far inland which was mind blowing.  it was a very cool trip

Up in the Sierras there are actually a lot of fossils, particularly plant fossils, from when it was subtropical and amazing... ancient paleo rainforest.

Lol thats good shit. I would totally do that! It would be fun. Put em in real scary places like by big round trees that you have to walk around. I always think one of these days I will be circling a huge tree and on one end is going to be a buck or some other mean animal pissed off Im stealing their mushrooms lol. I can imagine my reaction woould be to run around the opposite side of the tree and like a cartoon we will chase one another until one of us passes out lmao. You could put one in a creek peeking out like rambo! lol:mushroom2:

i was like WHAT THE FUCK! very surreal to have been mistaken for food and almost pounced upon.

Went picking chantrelles yesterday and ended up taking home 146 golf balls. Some rich guy sits in the yard of his mansion and hits golf balls into the woods every day so i decided to start gathering them. Now me and a buddy are going to hit them all into the woods at his place.
