Green mold grows so good on bread why not mycelium. Is it possable. Maybe make a brf roll.lol

im thinking maybe you could shred it per say. stick in a jar and pasteurize instead of sterilize then spawn with some grains.

Ill try that. Maybe mist with water/perox and bake it about 140 in jar?

*looks at stale bread*
I may have to try this... if only to get rid of the bread.

Sterilize the bread if you're going to experiment. I don't know how you'll get it to field capacity without making it into mush (not the good kind) first though.

That's gonna be the struggle, finding a way to keep your bread moist enough for long term growth, without turning it into pig slop.
Maybe you could try to treat it like a BRF kind of thing. My first thought would be just prep WBS and do a wbs/crumbled bread brf. You know the mycelium love WBS, so it would be a good way to start growth and see if it will spread and colonize the bread?
When I think bread, it makes me think of straw. So I would think bread could be used similar to the way one would use straw? I could definitely be wrong here.
Also, trying different breads made from different grains could be different in the way they are beneficial to the mycelium. Something to keep in mind? Lots of speculation. And lastly, I would try a tougher (harder, coarser, like old people skin) bread like an old roll or something, not just white bread from your loaf that you make pb&js from, maybe then it wouldn't just turn into pulp.
Good luck man, please post results whether they're good or bad!

It likely won't work, or if it does it won't be worth the effort. Like Frank said, hydrating it is going to be near impossible.

Like someone said above, treat it like BRF (actually bread is flour, right?). Crumble your bread and mix it verm (2:1:1), then make your cakes. IMO the biggest problem is the presence of salt in the bread, which is something our friends do not like at all.
It should work, although it's far from being an ideal substrate.

I was thinking of drying out a multi grain like jewish rye and making bread crumbs. Mix that with vermiculite. Rehydrate it. And process it like BRF jars. I was thinking the bread is mix of grains so should be like a " super food". What ya'll think

A word of advice: first mix verm and water and only then add the bread crumbs.
BRF is already a super food. You can't beat it in terms of biological efficiency. Besides when cultivating mushrooms more food doesn't necessarily equal to more fruits.

I agree 100% with this
Managing your moisture levels and fresh air exchange is much more important than the content of your substrate, IMO.
