Two hours of hunting got me 5+ lbs, a mutant and two white ones . Also this giant look-alike that I'm not sure what it is. Sorry the pics were taken with my phone. Also this is my first time posting pics so I hope it worked correctly. Thanks for looking!

Also the ones on the bottom left of the first pic was a reishi looking polypore (I think).

Great chants! Lol...nice finds bro! Not sure about the lookalike... did it have a milky substance coming from it when injured?

No it didn't. The "thing" was starting to rot so it might have if it was fresher.

I know, I thought about changing it for the pic! It was a spur of the moment hunt. We seen some on the side of the road and plastic bags where better than no bags. It was 5 minutes up the hill from my house. Thanks for the advice.

I guess the right thing to do would been to go home and come with proper baskets. It won't happen again... promise!

I'm guessing the look-a-like is a Russula if there is no milk. Or maybe it's just too old and dry and is a Lactarius after all.

I'm no pro so please excuse my ignorance. Are either of those two toxic? At first glance covered in pine needle duff I thought that's a monster! However under closer examination the gills were completely different. If it had been my first time I could have confused them.

From now on I'll keep some paper bags at least in the toolbox.

Id say that look-a-like is likely a common russula, though its hard to say without more information, like cap color, habitat, etc.
Those polypores almost look like Polyporus Arcularius/brumalis/etc. Whats the cap color on those? Any close-up pics?

Well both Russula and Lactarius are an entire genus of mushrooms. There are some poisonous ones in both. And both Russula and Lactarius are notoriously hard to ID to species. Though not all of them.

My guess would be Polyporus Varius. Pores are tiny? What kind of wood was it growing on?

Yes the pores were tiny. The wood was most likely Douglas Fir or possibly Maple. The habitat was typical Oregon coast range, old dark forest, ferns and moss. Thanks for replying

Polyporus badius, wiki is calling it Royoporus badius? The cap looks lighter than the ones I've found, but looks like it's well within the std variation.
-------------------- "Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats." "The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

Likely Polyporus Varius if it was growing from smaller wood debris. Or Likely Polyporus Badius if it was growing from a larger chunk of wood.
Definitely one of these 2.
