Red lines/thorns/splinters on wild libs?
    #18888510 - 09/25/13 09:44 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I pick my libs from the same spot, and have done for about a month now, the area is say 30m square and is always packed with libs, today going picking i noticed a lot of the mushrooms had the dark reddy/brown lines on them, some at the end of the stipe near the cap, and some connected to both the cap and stipe.

Is this some kind of bacteria? Is it dangerous in any form? Why has is suddenly appeared on so many mushrooms?

Answers quick please, thanks.

No. If they're on the stem about an inch down from the cap, they can also be remnants of the veil.

Don't store those mushrooms in plastic baggies btw. They'll rot.
