They were growing out of horse dung in thick grass, I'd like to know if they are eatable and if they do anything.

Possibly Coprinopsis atramentaria. Those coprinoid mushrooms (which these certainly are) that are edible are only edible before they mature, and C. atramentaria cannot be consumed with alcohol and isn't considered great. Anyway that is a bit of a guess, a clear photo in situ might help.

Probably a Coprinopsis sp. judging from the substrate yet you should provide
better pictures and a more detailed description of the mushroom to get a better id.

I do question whether the new pic is the same mushroom. OP in future please fill out as much of the detail requested as possible and post clear shots and then we aren't IDing with ifs and buts.
