have you ever had anyone get extremely offending by calling their baby 'it'
    #18887573 - 09/25/13 01:02 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

the other day I was talking to this girl about her baby she recently had and I said "is it a boy or a girl?" and she got so fucking pissed it was crazy. "my baby is not an 'it' how could you be so cruel and ignorant blah blah blah". its not like I knew what gender she was at the time and called her 'it', that would be a little disrespectful. how else was I supposed to say it? lol.

you guys have any experience offending parents?

I haven't personally offended anyone by referring to his or her baby as "it," but I've seen it happen to others.  If the baby's sex is unclear I refer to the infant as "your baby" to avoid the wrath of crazy parents.

Ex:  What's your baby's name?
      How old is your baby?
      Can I borrow your baby?
Does your baby do any tricks?
Your baby has a big head.

How diplomatic.

"It" is better than "that." As in, "What is that?"

I wouldn't get offended,

I mean it is an it until you know what it is.

Funny thing, in German
it is DAS Baby,
and Das is the article that denotes
neutral

Lol is he suppose to say,  is are a boy or girl, instead of saying, is it a boy or girl.  Or say,  Is thine art boy or girl,  Lol. It don't sound like proper English if he don't say it.

ShiVersblood is probably one of my favorite posters of all time.  His posts nearly always bring a smile to my face.

Yeah.  I once insinuated that someone could be a better parent.  I don't recommend doing that.
