More Dutch liberty caps - many, many more 2

Went out picking on Saturday. Initially, I didn't find diddly squat; pretty terrible, considering that it should have been a perfect day out. I had baked myself some muffins, got on my bike at a decent hour and the weather was really, really perfect. Quite warm, in fact. So after walking for 45 mins. through the fields and not finding anything, I decided it was probably too warm still (this is the southern half of the country, after all) and I started heading for my bike.
Overhead, a buzzard was circling and making its hallmark 'ieeeeeuw' sound. I just stood there for a moment, in this field, starting upward at the buzzard. They're magnificent creatures. Then, as I looked down, I noticed that right in front of me, there were a couple of pretty meaty libs poking through the grass. Apparently, I had walked right up to them, not noticing them (even though I had been looking intently at the ground). For some reason, I needed to watch a buzzard circling hundreds of meters above me in a perfect early autumn sky before I could spot the liberty caps 4 feet from my eyes. There's human senses for you: absolutely useless
Anyway, I spent the next 5 hours or so picking, as the libs were incredibly plentiful; even though many hadn't matured yet. They weighed in at 210 grams. I don't know how many mushrooms that is. It doesn't matter either; more than enough of a memento of a perfect day out in the fields.

Thanks! Nah, 210g wet. They've only just dried and they're not even dry enough to store yet. So I suppose they'll come out somewhere around 20g dry.

Nice! Its about 500
You should edit your cow photos and mask the id tag on their ears, it can be used to find your pasture...

Yeah, 500-ish sounds about right.
I considered that, about the ear tags, but I don't think it's possible for the general public to trace the cows to their owners and then trace their owners to the specific field.
Moreover, it's a field with cows in it...like there are thousands upon thousands around here...what gives?

Like I said; not too worried about that. Besides, I didn't take any of the cows home.

Thats great. The bird(s) gave you a hand. Or in other words God . As God is every being and everyTHING in the the physical and spiritual world. Or say divine synchronicity? Something bizarrely not random in a supposedly random and pointless "world". I think latter not.

@lasdR: That's a sympathetic thought
@LobsterSauce: I don't know, I didn't ask. But I bet I could have had a good shot at the more curious one of those pubescent animals

In pictures 7 & 8, it looks as though you've come across some sterile libs. Notice the different white colour of the gills compared to the darker grey/purple gills on the rest of 'em. A cool uncommon find
They are likely to produce no spores, but potentcy seems to be unaffected.

Yes, that's a sterile specimen; that's why I shot these close ups. They're a cool find; about 1 in a 1000 in my experience. There were a handful more sterile specimens growing in the immediate vicinity.

Close man real close! I've tested this. It takes 20-22 libs to make a gram so 20 grams is between 400-440 libs.
And great find Koraks! Its nice to see you post!!

A few years ago I made over 10 measurements and calculated the mean values... libs are between 20/g and 30/g depending on size, therefore 25/g is very reasonable for a mixed size collection. But it seems like koraks has a lot of big specimens so I can agree on 20/g for this collection.

There were lots of little ones, too, though. I'm really not sure how many there were in total. A couple of handfuls, that's for sure. That's about all I need to know

Lucky! I don't think we have those in Japan but the pics are useful in identifying active species. Yes I'd agree hide those numbers on the ear tags.
