have you ever had anyone get extremely offending by calling their baby 'it'
    #18887573 - 09/25/13 01:02 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

the other day I was talking to this girl about her baby she recently had and I said "is it a boy or a girl?" and she got so fucking pissed it was crazy. "my baby is not an 'it' how could you be so cruel and ignorant blah blah blah". its not like I knew what gender she was at the time and called her 'it', that would be a little disrespectful. how else was I supposed to say it? lol.

you guys have any experience offending parents?

I haven't personally offended anyone by referring to his or her baby as "it," but I've seen it happen to others.  If the baby's sex is unclear I refer to the infant as "your baby" to avoid the wrath of crazy parents.

Ex:  What's your baby's name?
      How old is your baby?
      Can I borrow your baby?
Does your baby do any tricks?
Your baby has a big head.

I wouldn't get offended,

I mean it is an it until you know what it is.

Funny thing, in German
it is DAS Baby,
and Das is the article that denotes
neutral

Lol is he suppose to say,  is are a boy or girl, instead of saying, is it a boy or girl.  Or say,  Is thine art boy or girl,  Lol. It don't sound like proper English if he don't say it.

Yeah.  I once insinuated that someone could be a better parent.  I don't recommend doing that.

Haha, my mom's awesome.  She only neglected me when she was really busy reading poorly written romance novels and chain smoking around my crib.

The mom I was referring to cussed me out and mentioned something about having her husband "talk to me."  A few weeks later she asked me if I wanted to watch her kid for a few hours and "learn how to be a parent."  :wtf:

Yea, who knew using the word 'it' totally innocently when referencing the baby for the first time, would cause a ten minute tirade from my brother in law who was a new father.

Fucking get a grip.

I used to make conversation with the guy to make my sister happy and this is the shit I get in return...

My father had the right approach. When a new mother asked him "doesnt she look beautiful?" he said "It looks like a skinned rabbit to be honest."

Took over a year before they were invited again.

People just act too fucking sensitive about their parasitic crotch-droppings. As if self-righteousness will compensate for being a lousy parent.
They're "its" until I can clearly distinguish some gender in the nasty little fuckers.

People get bent out of shape for petty crap. I yawned  at the gym yesterday - and god forgive me - I didn't cover my mouth. There was a lady on the stairmaster about 30 feet away, who shot me this look. I gave her this :hmm: and she said "don't you know to cover your mouth when you yawn. " NO, actually, I didn't think that was a thing. If it were a thing, I think a gym is exempt due to the abundance of grunts and groans.
