. . .Been Away for a While. . .

Haven't been on Shroomery much the last few years, thought Id catch up a little by sharing a tiny bit of what I have been up to on the fungi-front...
For now I will just share some of my Mobile photos from this past year... photos date back to this time last year... Some are as recent as yesterday.
I was going to label them with their ID's, but I figured it might be more entertaining to just number the pictures so that others can test themselves on Identification... always good to get some practice in! There are many repeat species and several that require additional information to positively ID.
Hopefully Ill manage to find some spare time to dig-through and upload some of my high quality photos that I took with my 'Real' camera... until then, Enjoy~

Yes, Thats my shiitake... I let him go to spore.
Home Grown.. Got a few logs approaching their second flush, first fruiting was only a few on each log.. the next fruiting should be bountiful.
One can hope that my spores will spread and that Ill find them randomly someday.

Totally what I do too... unless I plan to eat my catch, I always return it... usually eat the moderately sized ones... mature fish tend to have more cumulative toxins, so they are better off making babies and keeping other species in check... Kinda the same deal with mushrooms. lol.

Thats what I think too. The bigger catfish and bass are gamier tasting. on catfish farms which is where most of your store bought catfish come from the fish are fed topwater and harvested at about 2 lbs. thats when the meat is best. Glad to see another person respecting the balance of nature! I went ahead and saved those random images TY.

Exactly!
Welcome~

I have yet to see Mushroom Heaven I have found areas sort of like that but usually just one type of mushroom has overtaken entire area. I do think sometimes there are separate species (besides the usualy seen everywhere existing wood loving polyporus species) The most genera of fungi Ive seen on one cluster of dead trees is under 10. I find places when Im exploring that fit the build to be "Mushroom Heaven" IMO. My feet spring on the mossy ground that is full of rich soil or woodchips from a dead tree and I think " There should be mushrooms EVERYWHERE here!? " then I think. " Prolly not the right time of year? or the right type of tree? Then I even think of me like a modern day Johnny Appleseed only Johnny Mushroomspore!!! Me with a big tank on my quad spraying down forest areas across the globe Nah I do take mushrooms to different areas then I found them though . Like a 6 foot clumsy chipmunk lol. Just like when I was on my fishing spurt I used to transport fish I had caught with hooks or nets in the creek and distribute them amongst my community ponds I even had a flyer made up with pictures explaining how I could help prevent overpopulation of a certain fish thats been troubling you. Also since I was a kid I would play in mud puddles and reconstruct them like they were giant lakes. I would catch fogs and put em in there, minnows and try to introduce various species into the environment, that is until somebody drove through it with their car! or their bicycle! Wish I had a picture of me 5-6 years old frowning or even flippin the fuck out, while somebody is wreckin my dreams. It could be one of those inspirational scenes

Very reminiscent of my childhood... I would build river systems with lakes and underground tunnels in my backyard out of mud, sticks and rocks... then i would make little boats out of leaves and twigs, then let a snail ride the rapids... lol, I still kinda do stuff like this, rarely, but I have a thing for building boats and putting insects on them... no insects harmed of course, they're educated insects now ~:)...
My main thing was raising frogs.. I would collect the eggs and raise them to tadpole stage, keep them fed with food harvested from the creeks, until they were full-blown adult frogs, then I would release them all over my neighborhood.. Then I got into breeding instead of collecting eggs from the creek... my neighbors had a nice pool that they hadn't maintained in years... one year it became infested with frogs and they had no idea why.... there was a frog population in their pool for years, until they finally drained and cleaned it... during my childhood I probably raised tens of thousands of frogs, it was crazy.
My mom HATED my fascination with frogs...

LOL insects riding rapids would be cool filmed with a highspeed camera. Oh those were the days (childhood) Thats cool about you and the raising/breeding frogs! I had an obsession with frogs too as a youngster. I never got around to breeding them though LOL your neighbors pool haha. I remember doing the whole raising thing in some of my mudpuddles. I would catch and try and feed numerous critters. You did too I C Right on!

Oh, high-speed film would be awesome... sadly I don't have any... but, a friend filmed my beetle sail boat random experiment last summer.... it was awesome... he learned not to go in the water, after first going in the water... second go around he knew that he needed to stay on the boat... even when the boat capsized he found the high and dry end... and when the boat finally made it to shore, he casually stepped off, cleaned his antennae and continued on his way... it was slightly epic.

Yes! It does, its crazy.
It feels like I just released a massive load that has been waiting a year to get out.
Like a weight has been lifted.
An Itch has been scratched.
Feel like I have a clean slate again.
