I toured the countryside on my bike today and on the way back i decided to stop at my local shroom field.
And VOILA!

I think this is the earliest i have found liberty caps here. Temperatures still around 20 C !
Peace.

Yeah, I went out too on Saturday; warmest day of successful picking that I can remember. I picked about 200gr fresh. still need to upload some photos.

Thanks guys
More and more libs are showing!

I met some guys in the field, one of whom had been picking over 20 years. This explained why sometimes the picking seemed so bad compared to other times in that field. Ah well.. I only brought a small carton box so when i filled it up i left the rest for them to collect.
Finding new spots is what's it all about for me anyway

Anyone know this mushroom?

There were thousands of them

The last of the libs. Patches are shriveling up

The wind has changed to East and brings dry(er) air the coming week and my guess is that the hunting is over for now
Peace

Probably Galerina sp. but more shots might help. Nice lib finds.

Perhaps galerina...or just kind of wettish marasmius oreades. I'd like to see the underside of the caps.
Yeah, it's been pretty warm this week anyway, although night-time temps were still low with lots of dew. I probably won't have a change to go out this weekend to check anyway...

Despite the dry weather I found about 120 or so today in the northern region of Brabant. Most of them were already dry already, but about a third of them were freshly grown. The field is partly flooded so in some areas it is still wet enough.

I scouted out some more liberty cap territory today and i found a very nice patch
I tried to get it all into one picture..

Perfect spotting and picking conditions. I was sitting in the sun on the soft grass surrounded by libs!

The nosy neighbours...

These fields look especially blessed today

And a zilverreiger (Ardea alba) pointing me in the right direction to the patch

Whoa, amazing! In a week I'll be back in the Neths, hopefully the weather is still favorable then.
