SO before i start ive grown before using the Pf tek which was a while ago and currently ran across some spores in the fridge i forgot about. this is about the only time im going to try to grow again and i found it a waste of money to buy a PC although i suppose ive could of bought one used then returned haha to late for that, my question is has anyone had success sterilizing WBS Quart jars in the oven ? don't tell me thats its a bad idea cause i heard it already but anyway what i did is went ahead and got my WBS ready soaked for an extra day for moisture loss put in the oven on 250 for 1 hour and plan on doing another sterilization today on 250 for 2 hours. i have not put holes on the top yet since i figured maybe itl keep the water inside and it did, what yall think my chance of Failure , success is ? please no smart ass comments just because youve had a couple successful grows under your belt.

Chance of failure is about 100%.
You cannot hydrate them beyond capacity. Soaking for an extra day is only going to cause an overload of bacteria that even a PC could not take care of completely. They will still be just as hydrated as they would be after 24 hours.
Go get a cheap PC and then return it, tell them it was defective. Bam, free PC for a few days.

Why wouldn't you just call first? I have a hard time believing that all of them were out, especially since canning season is starting up.

Oh, I can explain that: The officer is a wizard.

Actually, no, it's just that when a bulb burns out you can sometimes make it work temporarily again by smacking it. If the break in the filament is very small, then when you hit it it moves slightly and current arcs across the break and it essentially arc-welds itself back together.
But, back on topic -- I'd say the best way to use whole grains (birdseed, rye, etc) if you don't have a pressure cooker is to grind them up into flour and make PF-style cakes with vermiculite. Or, if you have to, steam-sterilize them like you did with PF Tek, except do it for 8 hours instead of 90 minutes.

A pressure cooker is a waste of money?
Don't grow mushrooms op, you're going to end up breeding mould and contaminating your residence.
Thats not a smart ass comment, it's a realistic one.
