mushroom id request #1

Habitat:

Gills:
white/light brown, attached gills, dense.

Stem:
one inch, 2-2.5mm thick, dark brown, smooth.

Cap:
same size around as a penny, light to dark brown, smooth?

Spore print color:

Other information:

i feel that the second might be Psilocybe azurescens.  but i want verification before ingestion, also could someone point me towards a post describing how to prepare a mushroom for ingestion?

I for one cannot see the pictures.

Sensors indicate that unless you are in the North Oregon Coast, Southern Washington Coast or,
somewhere where someone maybe has introduced the species
You have not found it.

Use this page to help you post your pictures properly for identification.

i think the photo error is on your end... im very familiar with coding and thats exactly what i did, i added links so you can go directly to them as well.

i don't live on the coast by the way, i live near the vancouver washington area, highly doubt someone introduced them.

Hrmmmm. If you are right I would be surprised. If you had P. azuresence
I would imagine many people would be wanting to talk about it.

And if you didn't many would know and would have said so.

I cannot be sure but we can ask.

Anyone able to see dirty's pictures?

originally thats what i thought they were, i have picked them numerous times thinking i had found smething but it always ends up being a damned dryophilus. these seemed to be lighter in color, so i guess i just had my fingers crossed. any second opinions?

I'd call it Gymnopus, most likely dryophilus. Like Ganzig said.

Either that or something very similar in the Collybioid group.

You should copy and paste a picture of an azure and put it next
to the dryophilus pic you have there. The one with the flash.

I think you will see a few striking differences.

As soon as you find a Psilocybe growing in the wild you will never mistake
another for it.

Where in the world are you btw?

Your title says NW. I assume that is North West.

Derp.

Oh Double Derp. You actually said Vantucky.

I am in Portland and I have introduced them in many places.

And if you have found any in the couve then they were in fact most likely
introduced.

I should clarify. When I say "many places" I actually mean 3.

But still.

I am only one guy.

Why would you assume it "highly unlikely"?
You are on a website dedicated to mushroom nerds who hunt, eat, and grow mushrooms.

because if they are cut in half, just right blah > blah image blah > blah blah blah

I got an easier code for ya. -[u.r.l=http://][/u.r.l]-

In fact you only have to clicky the little link button and it apears for you.

No typing. Pretty sweet. Its kinda new and pretty cool, like uh, no big deal
or whatever.

nice to meet a local! more specifically i live in battleground, not vancouver, i just say vancouver since most people know of it, battleground on the other hand is much less known.

ive gone through the lists of Psilocybin mushrooms in our area but i just cant seem to find any, and if i see any look-alikes i tend to pick them and look em up as soon as i get home. so far it hasn't been working out so well. :frown:

oh well, i guess ill just keep looking...
