Identification help- chanterelles?
    #18881920 - 09/23/13 07:30 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hi There,
wondering if these are edible (and worthwhile)? they look like chanterelles but I think they're quite mature so I'm having a hard time id'ing.

Thanks!

i kept thinking every largish orange mushroom was a chant until i actually found one

just like the guides all say, they dont have true gills, they have these sort of overlapping veiny ridges. (imagine a really old dudes ball sack or something)

never blades

they are supposed to be one of the four foolproof mushrooms. and they are. but only after youve seen one up close and personal. but i think if you google search fro chanterelle ridge close-ups you might better familiarize yourself with how they look. once you find them though, youll never not be able to id them again.
