Can't tell... not really.  Looks like a lot of mycelium though, you got X's cut in those?

looks very colonized.  you should get a nice flush soon if you give it enough fresh air and humidity.

I would have to go with what Forrester said or alluded to.  The way those logs look they should be pinning if there were X's cut in them.

how far apart should I cut the x's?

5-6 inches?

I don't understand how they colonised with no holes in ?

Anyway looking at them , yes fruit now. I would put 3 or 4 rows of 4 X's down the length of the column.
