What is the first step?

You wake up one day and realize you're completely dissatisfied with life. Yet having never lived in another paradigm I feel trapped and stagnant.
What's the first step in changing one's life completely?

Think about what you want and what you don't want. Then write it down. Make realistic goals. Bust your ass and make it all happen. 1. Think 2. Write 3. Work 4. Enjoy

Exactly. What don't you like about your life? You can fix any issue.

You can't force huge changes all at once. Don't be ashamed of baby steps. Any progress is good progress.
This thread is a good first step.

A lot of my problems stem from my low self esteem, and this last year really caused that to plummet. I wasn't exactly in shape before, but then I had an injury that basically made my overall health plummet. My shoulder has been fucked up for most of this year and I'm a little over halfway done with therapy. But the sedentary lifestyle I've picked up while recuperating has really hit me hard mentally and physically. Often times I find myself just sitting wondering what to do with myself because I had so much free time (and no physical way to spend it) earlier in the year. Now that im a bit more able bodied I'm at a loss.
So I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week to start. Exercise has been really therapeutic.
I need to get a new job now, I haven't had one since I had to quit my old one (again because my injury prevented me from doing it). I'm also going back to school this Fall term, because I basically dropped out last winter.
But ultimately my dissatisfaction stems from the fact that I live so entangled in our modern day society and I would like to live a much more quiet and self sufficient lifestyle. But I'm taking baby steps toward that, I started a garden this year (had a lot of help with the heavy lifting) and it's only getting bigger next year.
Things can look up. Maybe not as fast as I want, but still.
Thanks guys. Good vibes.

I mountain bike where no one is around to hate me. But fuck em anyway. My buddy just got a 10 year old specialized stump jumper for a hundred bucks on Craigslist. I think a bike will give you back a freedom you forgot about.

Give yourself small pauses to ask: what do I want to do now, what I can do right now to get what I want? Im a pretty busy guy, and Ive always got a lot of projects going on, while working on a pretty heavy job, and lately I found this tek to work, since I always get different amounts of free time so I need to check what I can do and what is better leaving for the future. And that works also generally speaking in life, not only daily. I had same problems last year because I was trying to get off an hard time but I couldnt realize how to do it and often I went working with less then 2 hours slept during the night, and also avoiding working because of too small sleeping. I'm on the phsylocogical side of things because Ive got a pretty good nutrition, with homegrown vegs and balanced dishes, but also acting works great. First you need to sum up what's the direction you want to go, and then start walking that way

Go for great brain health, get the vitamins and minerals you need, then avoid over thinking and do what comes naturally.
Life is pretty self-explanatory. I mean, it's a mystery, but in order to live it only takes your natural abilities.

I don't know and quite frankly i don't give a shit. I'd like to end mine but I can't even afford the means to do it. Lately I've been seriously thinking about handcuffing myself and carbon monoxide all the way.
