Morels are a spring thing.
They do dry excellently and it even intensifies the flavor. I found and dried a few bags of them this spring but have unfortunately eaten them all or given them away to others wanting to try them.
It's unlikely you will be able to grow them; they are mycorhyzzal and form relationships with the roots of certain trees. There are apparently some that can fruit in captivity but it's extremely difficult.

pretty sure you can't grow them. unless you like burned your house and property to the ground. and then it would only be a maybe.
they fruit after winter sometimes where fires have been
but for the most part esp in my area they grow wherever they damn well please and they are few and far between.
the only guaranteed spots to find them are like montana
plus i think they retails for about 40 dollars a pound or more

There is technique for growing morels, but it's patented I guess.
Anyway, these are also delicious! I can't wait for spring!

I've got some spore prints from this spring, and now have antibiotics for agar. So if you want to give me a holler next week maybe I can hook you up. They grow really fast and I usually only do agar once a week since it's an ordeal. So, usually the contams take over before I can get to them, and I hear transfers can inhibit sclerotia production. I'm also hoping the antibiotics will also help but it kind of sketches me out.
