Central Valleyites... when should I bother to start looking for actives?
    #18878234 - 09/22/13 10:09 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I've been out of this game for like 25 years, but kinda curious to do a little dabbling again.

I live in a place with tons of woodchips and I've noticed lots of mushrooms in the past, but never really had the knowledge to know what I was looking at.  Heck, my front landscaping is filled with mushrooms every year.

After reading here from past years, I'm curious if actives might be in my area (209 area code).

We had a little downpour recently.  When should I get out there and start looking?  Is it too early?

Other than looking at wood chipped areas, are there other tips to get my started?  I've seen talk of "indicator species", but what should I be looking for exactly?

Thanks!
