Bulk substrate
    #18877529 - 09/22/13 07:25 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Would a Bulk substrate of Hpoo/verm/coco-coir/gypsum give ALOT more fruit then a substrate of just verm/coco-coir/ gypsum?
Also if it is better then does anyone know any teks for it?

The technique is the same.  You pasteurize and then you spawn.  If hpoo gave significantly larger flushes, there wouldn't be a TC here who wouldn't use it.

is there any other things I can add to the substrate to give it ALOT more significant growth?

The way to get best yields is to create ideal environment. Poor environment with manure substrate will yield less than non-manure substrate in ideal environment.

Leave out the manure for now. Most things you use besides coir, vermiculite, and gypsum will require proper pasteurization.

Adding things such as manure, coffee, and worm castings add new level of contamination risk.

I can't recall any posts of people havering significantly higher yields when adding manure to coir/verm/gypsum (CVG).

:whathesaid:

I can't speak from firsthand knowledge but RR has repeatedly said that coir is equal to manure in terms of nutrition.

However, for whatever reason, I do tend to get thicker, meatier fruits from hpoo-based substrates. Further research is pending.

For the beginner, coir and verm + a handful of gypsum is awesome.

I routinely get 6-8 ounces dry (first flush) off of a 66qt tub with only coir/verm for the sub.

:wowz: that's alot of mushrooms.
What's your spawn to substrate ratio and do you  think it would be a bad idea to have a 3:1 ratio?

Are you thinking of 3 parts spawn to 1 part substrate or vice-versa?

3 spawn to 1 sub is excessive.

1 spawn to 3 sub is a-ok.

Dunk your grains before you spawn
