Tiny white dots - normal?
    #18877126 - 09/22/13 06:01 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

On many of my jars, tiny white dots form on the mycelium. are these contams or simply the mycelium? Not all of my jars have them, but many of them do. Heres a pic to help ID it.

I have not seen that before. I would like to know what you eventually find out.

My king oyster cultures fruit where ever they put mycelium and it does look like hundreds of little white dots.

Satellite mold colonies?
Just wait and see its a bit hard to tell, but it looks like mycellium found tiny pieces of plant material and colonised it

That would make a lot of sense actually, some had to be shaken particularly hard and those jars ended up with a dusty plant film coating the inside.  I have a tub pinning right now that I made with jars that looked like this, so it seems like its ok, I just wonder if its some kind of bacteria or yeast thats going to bite me in the ass down the line.

anyone else got opinions? should I repost this on mush cult? this area of the forums seems rather inactive.
