Amanita muscaria var guessowii?

Bobzimmer said his guess on these was Amanita var guessowii. Can anyone give a second opinion possibly, not that I don't trust Bobzimmer he is always spot on with ID's when I see them. But Amanita's are a tricky at best and a second opinion would make me feel a little better. They were found in the grass under a large pine tree in a close group of 3 in northwestern Massachusetts.
Gills: White
Cap: Yellowish orange covered with a tanish colored veil.
Stipe: Vulva at base with a few rings going up. The veils were just tearing when I had to grab them They popped apart overnight leaving another slightly less prominent ring a quarter inch farther up the stipe roughly
Spore print: White can post if you would like
I wiped the veil off so you could see the actual cap color.

Bobzimmer is really good with Amanitas. You could post them on Mushroomobserver.org and Rod Tulloss might have something to say, but your best bet is to wait for them to mature fully to get a positive ID.

Yeah he seems to always be spot on. I had to save these from the mower this time sadly. Is there a chance more will pop in that same area again this year?

Yep, most likely. Also look around your neighborhood for the same trees and you'll likely find more.

It seems Amanitas around here prefer to stay out of the woods and stick right to the wood lines or lawns with large pines, even though there are loads of pine trees for them in the woods. I have only seen a few chomped off at the bulbs and a small few crenulata in pretty vast woods. I have a row of pines around 500 yards long around my lawn with amanita crenulata growing like a bread crumb trail right where the needles meet the grass. There was also a cluster of Amanita amerirubescens growing in the same location as the A. guessowii, seemed a little too dry to make me want to bother cooking them. Thanks for your advice , they are definitely out in force around here at the moment, I will be on the lookout! Have you had any experiences with them?

I've found them before, never eaten them, though.

They still look like A. muscaria to me. I often find them growing near A. crenulata too, under pines. Sometimes is see A. muscaria under hardwoods. I suspect beech is the host then.

I agree. I just smoked a bong pipe of the skins. So let us hope you are right. If it was frostiana or something similar it would be a bad time. I would be vomiting and such right? Not just slightly spacey? Like continuously clicking continue instead of submitting a post.

Do those grow in the Northeast though? What I read is only California and the PNW.

Don't know. Never been NE. But it doesn't fit the yellow amanita from macroscopic points....not enough red in my opinion. But
