How can we be sure that such a label is true? Maybe the merchandise was actually made in Wisconsin.

Cause if it was made in Wisconsin it would smell of cheese.

Why would someone put 'made in china' instead of 'made in usa'? Cause that'd be dumb as shit.

Yeah, cuz if I bought a $2 item that read 'Made in USA' when it was actually made elsewhere, I would spend my last dime pursuing a fraud case.

The correct answer is: we have no idea where the item was manufactured.

Advertising is pretty pathetic, very few people can actually see through it.

One example is weed, people will buy weed based on a name their dealer slaps on it.

Another example is LSD, people will pay more for a tab of LSD with more LSD on it - not bothering to consider that they didn't see the chemist laying the sheets.

I have a guitar, a rare and beautiful guitar made of high quality wood with a high quality finish. Not the fanciest of instruments but one of the best instruments I've played and I've played thousands of guitars (as a musician). This guitar is almost 50 years old and in fine condition, but because no one is familiar with the company which manufactured the instrument the going rate on it is $20.
$20 for a guitar I rate as a professional over many $1500 instruments, all because people cannot see past advertising.

Well if there is no solid evidence supporting the claim that it was made in China then we may never know...

I think if it was made in the usa they would want to put that instead of china. Chinas stuff is cheep and shitty, while usa products are of higher quality and usually more expensive. So..... to answer your question, if it says made in china, it probably was. It'd be like putting a chevy logo on an aston martin.

Not all stuff made in China is cheap and shitty and I've gotten some pretty lousy crap made right here.

There are exeptions to every rule. Come on. You know you'd rather have something made in the us than china 99% of the time.

No I would not.  I buy from China all the time. I do my research and am rarely disappointed and the prices are good.

Everything I buy from china breaks the first time I use it. There screws are the worst. Alumminum and they make little metal shavings that get stuck in yer skin. No fun.

I read that some stuff "made in china" is actually produced in factories in north korea because of the cheap labor cost. Apparently Chinese companies outsource to north korea to keep costs down, and then slap "made in china" on it because the company is based in china.

Pretty smart from a business stand point. I bet north korean labor is dirt cheap.

The things that break are pretty cheep, ill give you that, but the screws I'm talkin about are for plantation shutters I install that cost thousands of dollars. 100sq ft of them cost about $1,500 and about $500 to install. I can't belive I'm having an argument about the quality of chinese products and products made in the usa. Usa products are by far superior, they just cost more.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but there are for everything. If you had to buy a toy for your kid, and they costs the same, would you want it made in china or the us. I know id pick us. No lead paint for my kid, thanks. Another example is cars. Have you seen crash test videos of chinese made cars? They get crushed to a quarter of there original size! Ill try to find the youtube video I'm talkin about. The entire cab of the truck gets smashed to just a few ft long! Lol. Its pretty funny actually.

And I'm not tryin to start a shit storm with ya bro. I'm sure the stuff you get from china are ok, but I thought it was common knowledge chinese products are mostly shit, and for good reason.

We're just having a friendly chat. I'm not upset if we don't agree.  I bought two pair of $400 binoculars that are made in china and compare well with binos costing $1200 here or in Germany.  They have a full lifetime warranty.  If the parent company here cares about quality control the work done there will be good. I've talked to the owner and he flies over to China constantly to work out quality control issues.  And like I said, I pick and choose carefully what I buy.  I buy a lot on Amazon and rely heavily on customer reviews of product.  I also review a lot of products to help others.

Yeah, the shutters I install are designed here in the us but made in china cause there so much cheeper, even with packing and shipping. There's a plant in houston that is the exact copy of the plant in china and build the same thing, but there shutters are 2x the price. We only use them if there needs to be a repair so we don't have to wait 2 months. I guess china does make some quality products, but most of there cheap shit is shit
