cats and shrooms? (edit: Lilies can kill cats. R.i.p)

So I'm not positive that my cat ate mushrooms, but I had a bunch going in a dehydrator and i noticed the cat staring at it. I shooed it away when I saw it but next thing you know my cat's acting waaaay fuckered up. It's been over 48 hours and my cat's still acting out if it and seems to almost be having seizures.. starts twitching and eyes start rolling weird, and seems to be having lots of absent seizures as well. Don't want to take it to the vet but if this get's worse I'll have to...
Any thoughts?

I can't imagine a cat being into the taste of mushrooms, but anything could happen I suppose.
In all seriousness though, what would a vet be able to do for this? I suggest just being there for the cat and keeping an eye on him. He'll be okay.

If the cat did eat your shrooms 48 hours into it the vet won't be able do much. They could have pumped its stomach if you brought it in right away, but that opportunity is long gone. I would try and keep the cat calm and relaxed as best you can. I guess its possible that its having a non-mushroom related medical issue, so if things don't get better take it by the vet and see what they say.

If your really worried just bring the cat in to the vet, and don't mention the possibility of her eating your mushies.

The vet would give the cat valium or barbs if it is having seizures. I would try and get ahold of a vet but I'm no expert. Couldn't hurt.

My cats always REAL curious about my weed stash. It will always sniff it out through about 3 layers in a cupboard. Its never been around shrooms though.
Unless it like goes unconscious im guessing the little kitty liver will do its job eventually.

Hey everyone,
Took Miss Kitty to the vet yesterday, Yesterday afternoon marked the 72 hour mark, and she started vomiting. Not getting better. So I took her to the vet and they ran some blood tests. Turns out she ate some of the lillies I got my girl for our anniversary the other day... Lilies are toxic to cats. She suffered complete kidney failure and had to be put to sleep yesterday evening. She was 4 and a half years old... It's really rough on us right now... Never expected this to happen....
Turns out even something like flowers from the store can kill your cat.. And I'm thankful that the blood tests they took were accurate enough to recognize those alkaloids from that flower.. Had they just told me she was having kidney failure, I totally could have believed it to be from the mushrooms, and then I don't think I'd ever have been able to trip again. Nonetheless, it will be a while until I do anyways.
Here's a picture of my doberman keeping miss kitty company during her last hours.

Thats really sad man, I hope you don't blame yourself; if you do... Don't, because it's not your fault.
That's just life man, everything comes to an end somehow ... Kitty could have gone a worse way and suffered more than she did. You did what you could, so don't blame yourself.
Hope you and your GF feel better soon
RIP Kitty

My cat ate a bag of shrooms a week ago. I then started to paint a picture of my cat eating the shrooms. I then realized that my brother had this same picture, and that he was wondering how Ifound it. He actually told me after that he gave me his, and that he was wanting me to return it ot me now. I then found out that he discovered that I recovered it from his basement the previous winter when i lived there for a week. He lived there without me for 30 years so now having me suddenly shan't do him much harm. Though I found out that he was looking for someone to make him an exact copy of this very picture. He said he wanted to have another one just incase this one ever goes missing, and sometimes he felt that one day his cat might try to take it.

that sucks. I should have told you 2 days ago that she wouldn't get that bad of a reaction from psilocybin and asked what else was in your house and any obvious signs of cat chewing. I don't know if they could have saved her but you probably would have felt better about getting her there sooner than later. cats do stupid shit to plants. one of mine attacked a cactus last year because it stung him. he ended up getting surgery for a completely imbedded 2 inch long terschekii needle in his wrist. you can find lists of poisonous cat plants online or at the vet.

So sorry OP.
same thing happened with my cat, he took a BITE off a lily plant and 5 hours later shit hit the fan, fortunately for us we were able to get him to the vet that night and a thousand dollars later he survived.
I always tell my friends to becareful when it comes to flowers /house plants. Roses and daisies are safe but almost everything else is poisonous to them.
Sorry for your loss

Yeah when we first got the cat we decided not to give it a traditional name, since when you name something that leads to attachment. We thought that since she would be an outside cat we shouldn't get too attached in case anything were to happen (we live in the mountains).
Of course we ended up calling her Miss Kitty and that did become her traditional name...

I should have known better myself, but her eyes were pied so I honestly thought she just had a bad reaction to mushrooms... We wanted to bury her somewhere but the vet told us we weren't allowed to take her remains after the injection of whatever because of the chemicals in her body.... So that really pissed me off, but it's better than waiting another few days for her body to give out, her kidneys were already shot when we got her there. Our options were either a) Put her to sleep. b) spend 4,800 on tests to see if they could do anything. or c) take her home and wait for her to pass on her own..... Simply out of not enough money and not wanting to see her suffer I had to put her down.
She was our first and only cat and I don't think we'll ever get another one. But thanks for all the positive vibes everyone, means a lot to me

one of my old cats died of kidney failure a few years ago. she had lost a lot of weight but I was really busy with mining and kidney stones. one evening she was lethargic and down in the driveway with poop and urine all over herself. I called the vets and they were all closing, told me to call a local vet who lived nearby. he never called back, so I put her in a box with some warm towels from the dryer. she was dead within a few hours. I buried her on that property and I won't sell it because she and 2 other cats died there.
