I think you may have better luck with actives. They help me a lot, but it may not work that way for everyone...

I would agree. No personal experience, but I've seen it recommended. I'm all about reishi for so many reasons/conditions, but have never heard of it being used for depression. But who knows?

Reishi can definitely be used for depression. In traditional Chinese Medicine it was considered one of the best Shen tonics. Shen is the emotional center of the body. It is what we speak of when we say someone has a broken heart, we don't mean the 4 chambered organ, we mean the emotional center. Reishi nourishes and strengthens the Shen. Reishi is also all about balance so regular long term use can help bring greater balance. It is not a quick fix but a useful component of a holistic approach.

i really want to get into cultivation, like really badly.
bat for now I'm a dead broke student who is reading ~800 pages a day, annotating those texts, taking notes on those texts, and putting them on flash cards.
in addition im doing two different research papers that have me doing tons more personal readings, and interviews, and participant observation.
there isnt enough time in the day to read up and get the proper supplies for mushroom growing right now.
BUT. the season has started. i got some chicken of the woods the other day and now i cant focus for shit on school cos all i wanna do is go run through the woods and see what i can find.
totally going to go hunting this weekend, school be damned.
but yes eventually i would like grow my own reishi. although i need to find one first before i can clone/graft it or what have you.

Understandable on the no-time thing! If you do find time to get into cultivation I'd be more than happy to help. I haven't written up a tutorial yet but plan to soon. I've had a few adventures in reishi. (yeah it's a long ass thread but can always just skim for pictures) They're real easy to grow but you're right, you do need all the supplies, PC, jar lids, etc. so it does require an initial investment in time and some money. (Although you could do it pretty cheap and without a PC if you wanted) So much fun!
