Habitat: lawn
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

Gills:orange
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem: 2-5 inches
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap: 3/4" to 1 1/2"
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color: waiting for print
Very important!

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

I suspect it will be Omphalotus illudens. Please just post close-up pics directly into the thread. The video won't pause with hi-res on any crucial details, and a lot of people would baulk at a download.

I tried close up pics but it wont upload jpgs and thats what my phone takes.  Sorry for the vid.  I will try and figure out a way to get pics next time.

so is this edible?

I looked up Omphalotus illudens and they seem to grow on dead wood.  These are in the middle of a lawn.  Any thoughts on that?

They are growing from wood underground, most likely a nearby tree .

Like Joie suggested, Omphalotus illudens seems pretty likely. Photos/spore prints would help give a more definitive ID.

OP, Omphalotus illudens is toxic, but also sometimes bioluminescent - if they are glowing now that would settle it. :smile:

No tree within 30 feet and they are atop a mound of dirt thats about 3 feet higher than surrounding area.  Could be an old tree stump under it from before i lived here.  I have two caps on light and dark paper and waiting for print.
