New invention, nowhere to start.
    #18875629 - 09/22/13 11:58 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, my little cousin and me have had a good idea and we actually want to bring it to fruition, hes been excited about it lately, but I don't know much of the sorts. Hopefully one of you brainiacs will point us in the right direction.

So the invention is a usb adapter for retro gaming. One for nintendo. More of a docking station that has ports for all nintendo products. 2 nintendo controllers, 2 super nintendo, 4 N64, 4 gamecube, aswell as 4 usb hubs. Which will hopefully become a staple for anyone who emulates games. If you have heard of the OUYA system that has just came up it would pair amazingly with it.

What I need to know is how much you think this product would take to make. It would have to be worth less than 180~ dollars for people to be interested. We plan on using kickstarter to raise awareness about it. And if any of you guys have tips on how/who to contact to get started it would all be appriciated!:sunny:

Why in the hell would you need that? You can just plug in those controllers right into the usb drive.

Wait what? Lots of people like using the original controller for the game they are playing to keep the nostalgia. I have all sorts of usb adapters for playing with them but alot of them are for just one controller, which means you'd have to order 4 just to play with four friends. It would be way more simplistic if there was just one station for all these.

@Edible we are just a couple of average joes here so we have alot to figure out, but were the guys with the best ideas!:tongue2: My cousins young and eager so he will have alot of time to dedicate. Right now hes just been gathering information from different forums.

Alot of work to do.

You should get a patent before sharing your idea with so many people.

Now I am going to steal your idea, patent it, and make millions off of it!!! Thanks

Eh you are right! But a patent costs roughly 4000 dollars! I don't mind if someone took the idea im not too much of a capitalist:tongue2: and would simply just love to see the product!:sunny:

Ohh nice, close but I want perfection, one with 4 N64 ports built in, 2 of the others, 4 Gamecube and 4 usb ports aswell to plug in newer system controllers.

That one you'd have to buy 4 just to play some n64 with your buddies. Its the best one i've seen yet though, thanks for showin me!:peace:

Pretty simple, attach the controller ports to a development board and then write the logic to handle the inputs. I suggest mappping the input to a common set of functions so it's easier to work with.

The problems I see are:

1. Most people don't have the controllers, I certainly don't and am not going hunt around for them just to play with your device.
2. You would not be able to sell authentic controllers with your device without permission from Nintendo, Good luck obtaining that.
