Hello, fellows.
I'm hoping I've found Pan cinctulus.
Habitat: Shady mulched area. The mulch is most likely from deciduous trees, and the trees growing around are poplars, a few cedars that aren't very close to the mushrooms, and lots of Manitoba maples.
Gills: Brown with the slightest tint of purple.
Stem: White/brown. I do not see any blueing, and they are fairly skinny.
Cap: Brown in the center fading to a lighter beige. When picked for spore prints, the entire caps turned beige. Smooth, and most are roughly a half inch across.
Spore print color: Dark purple, or perhaps black.
Bruising: None that I could see.
Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Psathyrella. Panaeolus cinctulus doesn't grow in hardwood mulch.

I beg to differ.

It's definitely rare but can happen when the mulch has been fertilized or the ground under the mulch has been fertilized.
Those were found in a tree bed of mulch in downtown Washington DC.
Just spreading the knowledge.
BTW...I agree that the OPs mushrooms are not cintculus though.
