today we found these big mushrooms in the garden, and were hoping they might be edible... they smell somewhat like anise.
but after a bit of research, i read that they should bruise yellow, wich they donn't, not fast in any case.

You cut of inportant feature, the bulb if it was there, see a bit dryed agaricus where onion like bulb is well expresed.

Some of agaricus are poisonus !

Othervise here
they say Agaricus Arvensis which is edible smels like anise.
But they warn about possibly mutagen & carcinogen properies of it.

If it's very large it might be Agaricus augustus...  Crush the bottom of the stem and note any smell (should be anise) and the degree of yellow bruising.  Then cut it in half lengthwise and do the same.  If it only bruises somewhat and smells like anise, it's probably edible,  A. augustus us are choice, better with unopened or only slightly open caps, the bugs love 'em and they aren't waiting for you to join the banquet.

"The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

With no bruising at all it is good to eat! The yellow stainers are the more complicated ones.
