Ground, growing very near the edulis.
I should go check that mill spot soon, I bet there will be a shit ton of smithii down there.

They are actually just like some that I find on sandy riverbanks down here in GA. All stumpy and with the wavy margin. They usually grow on slightly buried decaying wood. Always trees nearby. Were there trees near the woodchips? They are a mycorrhizal species.

Thanks Bob! I found the Chanterelles under mostly Hemlock and Douglas-fir.

Aw yeah nice clusters of fried chickens. I really like them, I know a lot of people hate on the texture, but I think they're great in stir fry. Also, they make a badass soup stock with chicken and veggies. Use plenty of celery! :asianofapproval:
